HOW I WILL USE GOOGLE TO MONITOR MY STUDENTS'
PROGRESS WITH THEIR IEP GOALS
Check out the video on the right for a break down of how you can do all of this! The narrative down below is there for you in case you need to go back and read it at your own time.

|
1. Gather a list of your students arranged in descending order of due dates. This list is arranged from the latest one due to the student whose meeting is coming up soon. I call this prioritization. Now, assign numbers 1-22 (or however many students you have) to the students.
Goal: You will give students their assigned numbers at the beginning of the school year. |
3. Be witty when giving title to each goal. This will impact your process later on.
4. Start gathering your assignments & placing them in a Google folder. The online resources that have worked for me are: CK-12, Home School Math, Math is Fun, Reading Vine, ReadWorks. There are many out there!
Be structued and mindful when choosing the worksheets. Remember to find 1 assignment for each goal, for now. You can come back to add more later throughout the school year. Goal: You will assign work from these folders. So build folders folders full of worksheets that will test how the student is doing with their goals. |
|
7. Personalize each one of your student's "webpage".If you use my FREE Google Site, there is an available template for you to follow. Otherwise, design each student's page by ensuring that it has at least a list of ALL OF THEIR GOALS. Use buttons and make sure that the each button takes them to correct Goal Bank.
If a student wants to work on "Citing Evidence" and he clicks that button, it should take him to the Writing Goal Bank. Goal: Students will be coming back to the site to review their goals. You can either give them the choice or you can tell them what you want them to work on. |
8. Require the students to work on specific goals per week or every 2 weeks (or whenever), or you can give them a choice. That is up to you. This is the final stage of set-up! Make sure that each goal has various steps to guide them before they complete the actual task. I recommend providing a video to watch as the first assignment, then maybe read an article for the 2nd assignment. You can add a Google Meet conference as their third assignment wherein they had to explain what they learned. You can also ask them to do a FlipGrid. You may also give a Padlet assignment and many more! You are the boss of how you want the student to learn before having them a complete a worksheet on Citing Textual Evidence.
Then when you finally have a chance, add more assignments in the goal bank. Goal: Set up the "steps" that the student needs to take before completing a worksheet. They need to build up on their skills before they complete a task that you will be using as their worksample. |
